what is this Dystopian Nightmare?
For the last two-ish weeks, the feeling that we are in the unspoken-of event that caused the terrible dystopian society in all those young adult novels has gotten bigger and bigger. Which gave me an idea. I want to offer something to my friends and family to help them fill their time over the course of whatever comes next by bringing my favorite part of being a librarian to you. If you fill out this survey, I will use your answers and do a bunch of research to create a personalized list of suggested books to send back to you. If you're interested, just click the link below and fill out the survey.
In other library news, your local library doors are likely closed at this time. So I want to also offer my services for helping you navigate accessing your library during this time. Most public libraries offer ebooks and eaudiobooks through programs like Libby (my choice), Overdrive, and Hoopla, and those digital platforms are still 100% operational even during a pandemic. Digital books are checked out on wifi enabled devices like computers and phones, read or listened to on those devices, and even return automatically when they are due so you never owe any late fees (if your library even still charges those things). Also, many public libraries are offering curbside pickup right now. I would check their websites to find out what services they're still offering.
Please, please let me know if you need any help with anything that even resembles a library. Or help because you're not sure what I mean when I say the Libby app. Just ask. This is my job. And I love it.
And lastly, don't forget that if you have students in Buncombe County Schools, they have a public library card automatically using their student ID number!
